Srinagar, Jan 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League Chief Patron Sheikh Yaqoob in a statement to media has paid rich tributes to the 52 people who were martyred during the Gawkadal massacre on 21 January 1990.

Sheikh Yaqoob said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be taken to its logical conclusion. He said that the Kashmiri martyrs centre-staged Kashmir dispute at the international level. He reiterated the pledge to continue the liberation struggle, despite all odds. Sheikh has urged people to pray for the elevation-status of Kashmiri martyrs.
He maintained that unfortunately, the people of Jammu and Kashmir were still kept deprived of right to self-determination and the promises made with them at international level were not fulfilled.

Meanwhile a high level delegation led by JKPL spokesman Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi and Javaid Wani visited the residence of League’s former chairman late Abdul Razaaq Sopori to condole the death of his wife who passed away for heavenly abode a day before. Special prayers were held on the occasion on account to the departed soul.Later on meeting of jkpl was held at Srinagar to pay tribute to wife of former chairman jkpl late Ab Razaq Sopori meeting was chaired by Farooq dar and attended by senior jkpl leaders and they said she was a pious and God fearing woman and this family a contributed countless sacrifices regarding freedom movement of Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir peoples league chief patron sheikh mohmmad yaqoob has strongly condemned continued raids on house of party spokesperson Imtiyaz Reshi .He Strongly condemn the raids which continued for 2 days on the house of PL spokesperson Imtiyaz Reshi and other pro resistances members” Adding to it he said ” pro resistance leaders like imtiyaz reshi and others are being harassed by the armed forces and their house are being raided and their families are being threatened which is not acceptable by us and we protest these harassment of our pro resistance leader”. Hitting on BJP mohammad yaqoob said “kashmiri people will never sell the blood of our martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the Kashmir cause and we will never accept the supremacy of BJP or its pupits  at any cost. We will never let BJP to come to power .

Chairman JKLF Javaid Ahmad Mir and spokesperson Jkpl Imtiyaz Reshi along with Tahoor Sidiqi and Umer Khalid today visited Awanta bhawan, soura to visit the family whose house was damaged in the gun battle in which two freedom fighters were martyred at awanta bhawan which took the place yesterday and leaders expressed solidarity with the victim family.They strongly condemned the harrasment of the locals of awanta bhawan by the armed force during the gun battle which took placeyesterday.They said that “Armed force have damaged civil houses of the locality during the gun battle .On this occasion Javaid mir said no peace can prevail in south Asia without the resolution of kashmir dispute .He said in the cover of this so called elections india is using its daconian laws against the pro freedom leaders and innocent youth in kashmir. Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir people’s league a constituent of APHC today conveyed a day long party meeting in Srinagar on the direction of party chief patron Sheikh Mohmmad Yaqoob in which party district heads participated and held detailed discussion on present situation of the conflict region. Party General Sectary Mohmmad Ashraf Vaid briefed party leaders and activists about the instructions of party chief patron Sheikh Mohmmad Yaqoob in connection with present political situation of region and it was observed that party that has played an important role in internationalizing the decades old Kashmir issue. Vaid said such elements which are trying to defame the constitution of peoples league will not be tolerated at any cost because peoples league has a pious constitution and history and great leaders of peoples league sacrifices their lives for a noble cause freedom of Kashmir party leaders should seek a lesson from shaheed I inqalab S Hameed Wani and Shaheedi Azimat Sheikh Ab Aziz who sacrifices their life for freedom of Kashmir.Speaking on elections party General sectary rejected so called elections and termed it as fruit less attempt and appeal people to remain away from these so called polls and he also termed it as military operation in Kashmir.

Party leaders and activists during the meeting expressed concern over the state terrorism under which police and other security agencies were arresting Youths on fake charges. They said that India can distract people from the freedom struggle through such brutal tact’s and said that they will continue to support Kashmir movement peacefully.

Party General Sectary Mohmmad Ashraf Vaid while addressing the meeting said that the freedom movement of Kashmir is at its important stage and stressed upon party workers, leaders and activists to intensify its activities and reach out to people who has laid their lives and property for the Kashmir freedom cause.
