Farooq, Police in a bid to foil the ‘Shopian Chalo’ of Hurriyat, Police
today arrested Jammu and Kashmir people’s Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad along
with other leaders including Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Bashir Ahmad Indrabi and lodged them in Police Station Raj Bagh Srinagar.
Party Spokesman condemned the action of Police and said that the Hurriyat leaders were scheduled to meet the people of Shopain, were curfew has been imposed since last 10 days. According to spokesman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza said that the shortage of basic amenities like food and medicine has affected the population of the district. He impressed upon human rights organizations to take a serious note of the prevailing situation in Kashmir especially of Shopian which remains under curfew since last ten days.
Earlier, JKPL Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza briefed Canadian delegation about the Kashmir situation viz-a-viz the violations of human right by Indian troops in the valley. Worthwile to mention that Canadain delegation today met APHC Chairman Mirvaiz Omar Farooq and others executive members including Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, Aga Hussan Badgami, and Mohmmad Musadiq Aadil.
