JKPL Leaders Including Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza arrested in Sopore, detained in Police station Mujgund peoples league continue poll boycott at Baramullah.
Srinagar, May 4, 2014:
Jammu and Kashmir people’s league chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with party senior leaders including Vice Chairman, Nazir Ahmad Khan, and General Sectary Mohd Ashraf Vaid were today arrested in Sopore. JKPL leaders were scheduled to visit several areas of Sopore and Baramullah in view of its election boycott campaign.
Party spokesman Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi condemned the police action termed it with the frustration of puppet authorities and security forces. He said that leaders were arrested at Tarehzoo Sopre after a heavy contingent of police and CRPF stopped their vehicle in which they were travelling.
He said that they were harassed and shifted to at least four police stations in day. “Our Party Chairman, Mr Waza Shab along with Vice chairman Nazir Ahmad Khan and general sectary Mohd Ashraf Vaid were arrested in Traehzoo Sopore from there they were shifted to Amargad Police station, then to Putkha Police station and now have been detained in Police station Mujgund.”
Condemning the mass arrests of pro-freedom leaders and youths ahead of sham polls in Baramullah, Party spokesman said that India’s electioneering  game stands failed and it was better for India to come forward for the resolution of Kashmir issue other than implementing oppressive and repressive tact’s which can’t deter people of Kashmir to secure birth right ‘right to self determination’.

Meanwhile, party delegation comprising of senior leaders including Shakee-ul-Rehman, Imityaz Ahmad Reshi, Jaffer Kashmiri and Ghulam Qadir Rah visited several other areas of North Kashmir besides heavy deployment of Indian forces and distributed the anti-election literature. They appealed people to boycott the polls and India is misleading world community after conducting these sham polls in the state.
