Resolve K-Issue On Humanitarian grounds Srinagar, 29:2011: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League Chairman, Mukhtar Waza has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the mother of prominent Peoples league activists Aashiq Hussain Khan and Khurshed Hussain Khan. The JKPL Chairman, along with other party leaders visited house of the deceased at Chanpora in Srinagar and condoled with the bereaved family. Meanwhile party delegation including Peoples Leaugue spokesperson Imiyaz Reshi, Haji Abdul Qadoos, Mohd Maqbool Sofi and Shabir Ahmad visited the house of Sheed-i-Azimat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz at Pampore Namblabel Mukthar Waza through light on the death and humanity at Chanpora Srinagar. However, he maintained that Kashmir waza a political issue and should be addressed politically. Waza appealed leaders of India and Pakistan to come forward and resolve Kashmir Issue on humanitarian grounds. Mukhtar Waza maintained that unfortunately, the people of Jammu and Kashmir were still kept deprived of right to self-determination and the promises made with them at international level were not fulfilled. “The authorities can not suppress the Kashmiris’ liberation struggle through use of brute force,” he added. Waza said that the bacts of Indian state terrorism perpetrated against innocent Kashmiris were aimed at silencing their just voice for right to self-determination, but the people of Jammu and Kashmir will continue their struggle for securing right to self-determination till its logical end spokesman pl imtiyaz reshi.

 In a statement  waza, said  Wamiq Farooq  was martyred   in the firing by forces in January 31, 2010, at  Rajori Kadal here.  said  waza, urging the international human rights organizations to set up an international independent tribunal to probe the  Wamiq farooq  Massacre so that the conspirators be unmasked and punished under the international  humanitarian law. Jammu Kashmir Peoples League said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be taken to its logical conclusion. While speaking in the colloquium senior Hurriyat Leader and  Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza said that Kashmiri martyrs centre-staged Kashmir dispute at the international level. He reiterated the pledge to continue the liberation struggle, despite all  He appealed the UN to impress upon India to revoke the draconian laws
like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the territory,
withdraw its troops and release all the illegally detained

Back Ground Profile Saheed-e-Azeemat Sheikh Abdul Aziz

Sheikh Abdul Aziz born in a town Namblabal Pampore Pulwama (1952) received basic education from Govt. School Pampore and then passed Matriculation from Govt. High School Pampore. Father Sheikh Abdul Salam was an agriculturist and a Saffron Grower. Thus got attached with the ancestral business. In 1972 when he got emotionally attached with pro-freedom movement and attached himself the young mans league (A Pro-freedom Political Party --- as an activist).In 1973 his first arrest was made under NSA, afterwards joined young mans league, students federation, Islamic Organization and Youth League which merged into Peoples League. Although at that time he was serving as a Block Secretary for Youngman’s league and went underground in 1982-83 and was holding the responsibility of District President for Pulwama (Peoples league).
Got sentimentally disturbed and already Peoples League (PL) lodged a protest for his illegal, illogical elimination and was put under PSA for one and a half yearwhen Maqboll Butt was hanged in notorious Tihar Jail .In 1986 he was given the responsibility of General Secretary to PL and carried it up to 1990 – accordingly taken as APHC Executive Member in 1998.Arrested from 1st May 1993 – 27th Sep. 2000, Ist Aug. 2001 – 26th Feb. 2004, 5 Feb. 2005 – 17 Nov. 2007. Almost arrested for complete 16 years at different intervals.

Satiated Over Oic Developments Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz expressed satisfaction over the recent statement issued by US Department regarding Human rights Violations which are carried out by the Security Forces deployed in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the ratio of 1:7 (1 security force personal is deployed for 7 civilians). The presence of security forces in the state with a huge magnitude is itself a biggest human rights violation and ill behaviour treated by these forces is beyond the imagination: Sheikh Aziz Said. Every person in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is suffering from the pain of disgust which can be felt only by us who are suffering from it, therefore it is a moral duty of a civilized world to pressurize India diplomatically so that common Kashmiris can get a respite from the worst phase of human right violation done at the hands of security forces, sheikh Abdul Aziz said. While commenting on the yesterdays developments in OIC Sheikh Abdul Aziz welcomed the move taken by Kashmiri resistance leaders present in 11th Islamic Summit of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) at Dakar on Friday. Sheikh Abdul Aziz wished that the OIC should become an effective tool for whole Muslim Uma so that it may turn into socio-political and economical “sanctum-sanctorum “ of Muslims living on the globe and prove as an International democratic senate for Muslim brethren so as to deal with the day to day problems they are faced with. It is worth to mention that in OIC it was resolved that the Kashmir dispute is to recognize the centrality of Kashmir dispute in the relations between India and Pakistan, and draw a line between terrorism and struggle for freedom, a delegation of Kashmiri resistance leaders told the 11th Islamic Summit of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) at Dakar on Friday.
2. SHEIKH ABDUL AZIZ HAILS YOUSUF RAZA GILANI’S STATEMENT :
Senior Hurriyat Executive Member of APHC and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz has welcomed the fresh avowal issued by Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. In a statement Sheikh Abdul Aziz said that Pakistan has always stood on Kashmir front with kashmiris, although suffered a lot. There is no denial of the fact that Pakistan has always supported kashmiri cause politically and diplomatically for its peaceful resolution and the recent statement issued by Pakistani Premier is an eye opener to those, who are working in Kashmir at the askance of New Delhi in the shape of different political parties having pro-India stance and agenda - under the garb of development and resolution of Kashmir they have no role at all, if they want really to serve the suffering masses of Kashmir then I advice them to shun the pro-India political activities and support the resistance movement politically, Sheikh Aziz said. It is worth to mention that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said, “Pakistan government will continue to support the cause of Kashmiri people till the resolution of Kashmir issue”. While talking with Azad Kashmiri’s Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan at PM secretariat, Gilani said, peace, stability and development in the region could be achieved only through the resolution of all outstanding issues including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

4. Sheikh Aziz warns of ‘anti-Muslim war’ to spread in Kashmir
The senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Sheikh Abdul Aziz has expressed serious concern over the ‘anti-Muslim’ war unleashed by Hindu extremists in some areas of Jammu and warned that if not contained it would spill over to whole region. In a statement Sheikh Aziz in Srinagar said that the communalists’ provocative acts, which had yet spread over to Samba, Kathua and other areas, could engulf the whole region of Jammu. He appealed to the Muslims and non-Muslims as well not to be influenced by vicious provocations of communalists and to maintain communal amity at all costs. The APHC leader condemning the recent serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmadabad, sympathized with the families of deceased. He also denounced the harassment of Kashmiri traders and students in different areas of India.

Senior Hurriyat Leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz on the eve of Kashmir Martyrs Day paid rich tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs. This somber day commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by 22 unarmed Kashmiris who were ruthlessly slaughtered by the illegitimate Dogra regime on July 13, 1931. Now, “Martyrs Day” memorializes all those innocent victims, nearly 100,000, who have been forcibly silenced by the Indian atrocities that erupted two decades ago,” Sheikh Aziz said. The Hurriyat Leader said that the recent successful protests against the transfer of Kashmiris land to non-Kashmiris was a magnificent symbol of Kashmiris’ commitment to their cause of self-determination. He strongly condemned the brutal repression of the people by Indian troops and police and expressed deepest condolences to the hundreds injured, tortured and Martyers. He emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot achieve any sort of progress and prosperity till the resolution of Kashmir dispute.
6. Sheikh Abdul Aziz hails Syed Yousuf Raza Geelani remarks on Kashmir
Senior Hurriyat Leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz issues a statement from New Delhi while hailing the recent comments passed by Prime Minister of Pakstan Syed Yousuf Raza Geelani in an interview with Karan Thapar, the host of the “Devils Advocate Show” on CNN-IBN; laying impetus on 3 points that : 1. Kashmir is the core issue of contention between India and Pakistan 2. The issue must be resolved according to the United Nations Security Council resolutions 3. Any final settlement must include the will and the aspirations of the people of the sate of Jammu and Kashmir Hoping that Pakistan will continue to support Kashmir freedom movement inspite of some internal political upsurges, history is witnessed to the fact that Pakistan has always stood at the back of Kashmiris politically, morally and diplomatically which is immemorial of all the times, Sheikh Aziz said.. Expressing grave concern over the plight of Kashmiri detainees who are languishing in different Indian jails since decades urged upon the civilized world community and even the somatans of India to compel Indian authorities for the early release of Kashmiri prisoners incarcerated in notorious jails and insisted probe on the un-marked graves which have been recently spotted in North Kashmir and some border areas of Jammu should be carried out with the support of Amnesty international, ICRC, Red Cross, etc . In the present times United Nations Security council resolutions have same strength and soundness which they were having in the times which went before and are the genesis of Kashmir resistance movement. Therefore, Kashmir issue needs to be solved as per wishes, sentiments and aspirations of common stock of people inhabitants of Jammu Kashmir, Sheikh Aziz said.
7. Sheikh Abdul Aziz felicitated Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Geelani
Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz has passed on good wishes to Syed Yousuf Geelani for being sworn-in as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan . Expected that the newly elected Govt. of Pakistan will advocate for much vexed Kashmir issue to the civilized world at diplomatic level in order to find a peoples oriented peaceful solution to the issue - can guarantee a meaningful harmony in the region and will prove an assurance for the everlasting prosperity and development in the sub-continent, Sheikh Abdul Aziz said. It is pertinent to mention that Sheikh Abdul Aziz returned back to valley after attending the Mega invitation of Pakistan High Commission convened by Mr. Shahid Malik (High Commissioner of Pakistan ) in view of 23rd March 2008 and the seminar on Human Rights Violation organized by Dal Khalsa at New delhi .
8. Reacting to Asma Jehangir’s Statement
In a statement Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz while reacting comments of the Social and Human Rights Activist Asma Jahangir, He stated that Kashmir is a long pending issue which needs to be resolve as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have no interest in elections and shows solidarity with freedom struggle, It is the kashmiri people who have to decide future of the Jammu and Kashmir not by election or selection, it is only tripartite meaningful dialogue which can usher peace in the South Asia, as the two countries of the sub-continent are at concentration. Therefore it is mandatory that without wasting the time the parties involved in the Kashmir dispute must come to the logical conclusion. That is early resolution of the Kashmir tangle, Sheikh Aziz said.
9. United Procession of two Hurriyat Conferences
A massive procession lead by Syed Ali Shah Geelani along with Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Shabir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Ahmad Khan today on after Friday Prayers from prominent Tourist Stand Masjid to Dalgate. The demonstration was first ever after the two Hurriyat factions are expected to get united. It is pertinent that on 19th June 2008 a shared meeting of two heads of the Hurriyat factions Molvi Mohammad Omer Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani was carried at the residence of Syed Ali Geelani early this after known Maulvi Omer Farooq was accompanied by Senior Separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah and Syed Ali Shah Geelani was given the company by Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Masrat Alam ; first meeting session started jointly with all .However the second session of the two factions of Hurriyat was carried by the mode of one-to- one between Omer Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani ; the third and final session was once again carried jointly by Shabir Ahmad Shah , Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Masrat Alam beside the two heads of the both factions . The 8-hour ended after long discussions and deliberations .Finally the lull broke out at 6.20 P.M when both the heads of the two factions of Hurriyat came out for the joint press conference . It was decided that firstly, the sanctity of 1993 APHC constitution will be upheld in letter and spirit. Secondly, the two factions will work in tandem for achieving right to self-determination for the people of Jammu Kashmir. Thirdly, it will work for creating a mechanism that will find ways and means for achieving right to self determination as enshrined in the UN resolution through tripartite talks between Pakistan, India and Kashmiris.While retaining their separate identities “for the time being,” the leaders of the two factions signed a joint document spelling out their firm resolve to evolve a joint mechanism to further strengthen the struggle for achieving the right of self-determination and to work out the modalities for total unification both factions of the separatist amalgam fell apart on September 15, 2003. In the Press briefing Moulvi Mohammad Omer Farooq said that today”s meting was aimed to develop a joint mechanism between the two faction of the Hurriyat and the burning issues like forest land transfer to Shri Amar Nath Shrine Board and anti election campaign were discussed in a conducive manner. Both the Faction of Hurriyat have reached to the consensus that a state wide agitation shall be launched State along with anti election campaign which will be commenced with a structured policy , some point regarding the Hurriyat Unification were also discussed with far and wide parameters, Omer Said, “ both Hurriyats would jointly fight against the “illegal” land transfer and his faction would support all the programmes of the committee formed by Geelani faction under the leadership of former president of the Bar Association, Mian Abdul Qayoom. “As Geelani Sahib has already formed a committee, we will join it and carry forward the mission together,”. 6-member committee will be constituted to look into the unification of the two factions of Hurriyat which will comprise of three members from each ,however inputs from inside sources reveal that the committee shall comprise of Nayeem Ahmad Khan , Dr. Hubbi and Shabir Ahmad Shah from Omer Faction of Hurriyat while as Masrat Alam ,Abdul Aziz Dar@ General Moosa and Ayaz Akber will represent the committee from the faction of Syed Ali Shah Geelani”s Hurriyat but its confirmation could not be ascertained . Inarooq paid a visit to his residence along with Shabir Ahmad Shah with the proposal to choke out a policy regarding forest land transfer by the State Government to the Shri Amar Nath Shrine Board . In the meeting besides this the issue regarding anti election campaign was also discussed both accepted to carry it in the forth coming assembly elections ,Geelani Said , “In the the forth coming assembly elections ,Geelani Said , “In the future course of time Hurriyat will take indigenous decision and will not receive diktats from others”. It is worth to mention that it for the first time that such a statement has been issued by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and has also expressed concern over the moral degradation in the state, which according to Geelani is encouraged by India through its sleuths . Vice chancellors of State Universities and heads of the some prestigious Institutions with out naming them are propounding the Jewish policy orchestred by India, alleges Syed Ali Shah Geelani . The procession was carried amid pro-freedom slogans and anti liquor campaign was thus triggered by united Hurriyat leaders led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani who addressed the precisionists at Tourist stand masjid. While speaking on the occasion Geelani said that there are some stooges who are masked with pro-Indian political stand and are responsible for spreading of moral degradation among the Kashmiri youth. He alleged that the educational institutions have been deliberately targeted by those people who have the only interest to divert the attention of upcoming youth from freedom to romantic utopia by propounding the policy of catching them young. Syed Ali Geelani appealed to the parents of the youth to remain cautious about such elements who are trying to tarnish the image of Kashmiris and are trying to kill our deep rooted ethos. However, Moulvi Mohammad Umer Farooq was not spotted in today’s procession. In the meantime chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz has hailed the move taken by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Moulvi Umer Farooq on the unification budge of two hurriyats and called it as a positive sign for the ongoing freedom movement in Kashmir which will yield fruitful results. Geelani and Umer Farooq consensus has added feather to the cap of Azadi Movement, Sheikh Aziz said.
10. PPP reiterates its Kashmir policy;
Sheikh Aziz Welcomes SRINAGAR 5th March 2008. Spokesman for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Farhatullah Babar has said that the remarks of PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari about Kashmir in an interview to an Indian channel have been quoted out of context in a section of the media. In a statement on Tuesday, Babar said the PPP was committed to resolving the Kashmir dispute and normalising relations with India on the basis of respect and honour. He said in the said interview Mr Zardari, articulating the party”s position, had stated that the PPP believed in conflict management and simultaneously creating a trading bloc of the two countries to improve living conditions of people of South Asia and at the same time improve confidence as a key to resolving outstanding issues. Babar held that the PPP believed that peace required patience and that confidence building measures were required to create a climate for durable peaceful relations. The PPP is in favour of normalization of relations with India as well as enhancement of SAARC as a trading bloc. In this context the party proposed soft borders as far back as 1999. Meanwhile Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz has welcomed the statement issued by spokesman of Pakistan peoples party Farhatullah Barber in which party has expressed that Kashmir dispute needs to be resolved peacefully and politically. However, Sheikh Abdul Aziz urged that a result oriented tripartite dialogue should be initiated between the Indian Government and the Government which will come forth in Pakistan. But stressed that the responsible statements should come in future from the leadership of Pakistan, so that Kashmiri peoples should not get demoralized as there is a hope against hope with Pakistan who have supported our sacred movement politically, morally and diplomatically, Sheikh said.
11. Peoples League Leaders arrested in Srinagar . 25th April 2008:
A procession led by JKPl chairman and Executive Member APHC Sheikh Abdul Aziz amidst pro-freedom slogans like “Kateloon ko nanga karoo”, “Behayayee ko Band Karoo”, “Expose the uniformed killers”, “Stop Planned Moral Degradation”, “, while marching towards historical Jamia Masjid of Srinagar, in order to express solidarity with the parents whose children have been disappeared by the security forces. It is worth to mention that APHC has already announced that it will register a peaceful protest demonstration against the unmarked and un-named graves spread far and wide in the state of Jammu Kashmir, who have been killed by Indian security forces. In this context a large chunk of Peoples League activists started marching towards the historical Jamia Masjid. However they were forcibly stopped by state police and were arrested and lodged in Rajbagh Police Station. It is pertinent to mention that Sheikh Abdul Aziz a senior most secessionist leader who has been released recently from Tihar jail after a long spell and has been again detained as a precautionary measure to prevent him from reaching to the historical Jamia Masjid, where from the protest march led by APHC chairman Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq shall culminate and will submit memorandum to United Nations Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), so as to make civilized world cognizant about the gross human right violations rendered at the hands of security forces deployed in the state to curb the legitimate freedom struggle carried out by Kashmiris against illegal occupation of Kashmir by India. The other persons which were arrested with Sheikh Abdul Aziz are Mir Mohammad Iqbal president Mahaz-i-Azadi, Sheikh Zahoor Ahmad, Perviar Ahmad Dar, Gh. Nabi Darzi, Mohd Maqbool Sofi, Shakel-ul Rehman, Er-Sajad, Gh. Mohd Mir and other activists. Mahza-I-Azadi has termed it as an undemocratic step and to suppress the voice of Kashmiris ,which is meant to safeguard the wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu Kashmir, Mahaz-I-Azadi press release said. It is worth to mention that Javaid Ahmed Mir another Senior Hurriyat Leader has been detained in Kotibagh Police station Srinager. Senior Hurriyat Leader and Peoples League”s cistern feeler Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has condemned this act and termed it as a cowardice action which will yield no results but will add fuel to the fire. It is enigmatic that a peaceful procession which was carried by peoples league aimed to urge international communities like Amnesty International, Asia Watch, ICRC to pressurize India for probing into the un-named graves where in the kashmiri youth have been killed in different fake encounters and who were dubbed as foreign mercenaries which is far from the realities, being the pacifists and democrats it is unfortunate that India is still propounding the policy of barbarous oppression theory, Waza said.

Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz has hailed the statements issued by Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Geelani and Co-chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari in which they expressed that “Sacrifices of Kashmiris not to go waste and Solution of Longstanding Kashmir issue is the need of the hour”. Sheikh Aziz urged that to usher peace in South Asia, it is mandatory for both the countries of the sub-continent to go for a result oriented dialogue by involving Kashmiri Leadership because Kashmiris are always prime party to the dispute, it is an admitted fact that progress lies in the peace, which can be achieved through politically and peacefully in a cordial atmosphere, Sheikh Aziz said. The solution of the Kashmir dispute can be resolve according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The newly inducted visionary people having world exposure with the eye on global affairs is a welcome sign for the people of Sub-continent; once futurist leaders of both the countries - the nuclear powers of sub-continent (India :Pakistan), get empowered politically; is positive sign which can usher perpetual peace to the region because Kashmir imbroglio needs a political solution as it was never an Indo-Pak border dispute but with its resolution, honor and dignity of people of Jammu & Kashmir lies; which is presently at stakes - foresee a cordial relation between two neighboring countries of sub-continent, Sheikh Aziz Said. While commenting on the yesterdays developments in OIC Sheikh Abdul Aziz welcomed the move taken by Kashmiri resistance leaders present in 11th Islamic Summit of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) at Dakar on Friday. Sheikh Abdul Aziz wished that the OIC should become an effective tool for whole Muslim Uma so that it may turn into socio-political and economical “sanctum-sanctorum “ of Muslims living on the globe and prove as an International democratic senate for Muslim brethren so as to deal with the day to day problems they are faced with. Senior Hurriyat Leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz on the eve of Kashmir Martyrs Day paid rich tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs. This somber day commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by 22 unarmed Kashmiris who were ruthlessly slaughtered by the illegitimate Dogra regime on July 13, 1931. Now, “Martyrs Day” memorializes all those innocent victims, nearly 100,000, who have been forcibly silenced by the Indian atrocities that erupted two decades ago,” Sheikh Aziz said. The Hurriyat Leader said that the recent successful protests against the transfer of Kashmiris land to non-Kashmiris was a magnificent symbol of Kashmiris’ commitment to their cause of self-determination. He strongly condemned the brutal repression of the people by Indian troops and police and expressed deepest condolences to the hundreds injured, tortured and Martyers. He emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot achieve any sort of progress and prosperity till the resolution of Kashmir dispute.

Expressing grave concern over the plight of Kashmiri detainees who are languishing in different Indian jails since decades urged upon the civilized world community and even the somatans of India to compel Indian authorities for the early release of Kashmiri prisoners incarcerated in notorious jails and insisted probe on the un-marked graves which have been recently spotted in North Kashmir and some border areas of Jammu should be carried out with the support of Amnesty international, ICRC, Red Cross, etc . Expected that the newly elected Govt. of Pakistan will advocate for much vexed Kashmir issue to the civilized world at diplomatic level in order to find a peoples oriented peaceful solution to the issue - can guarantee a meaningful harmony in the region and will prove an assurance for the everlasting prosperity and development in the sub-continent, Sheikh Abdul Aziz said. In a statement Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz while reacting comments of the Social and Human Rights Activist Asma Jahangir, He stated that Kashmir is a long pending issue which needs to be resolve as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have no interest in elections and shows solidarity with freedom struggle, It is the kashmiri people who have to decide future of the Jammu and Kashmir not by election or selection, it is only tripartite meaningful dialogue which can usher peace in the South Asia, as the two countries of the sub-continent are at concentration. Therefore it is mandatory that without wasting the time the parties involved in the Kashmir dispute must come to the logical conclusion. That is early resolution of the Kashmir tangle, Sheikh Aziz said.
9. United Procession of two Hurriyat Conferences
A massive procession lead by Syed Ali Shah Geelani along with Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Shabir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Ahmad Khan today on after Friday Prayers from prominent Tourist Stand Masjid to Dalgate. The demonstration was first ever after the two Hurriyat factions are expected to get united. It is pertinent that on 19th June 2008 a shared meeting of two heads of the Hurriyat factions Molvi Mohammad Omer Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani was carried at the residence of Syed Ali Geelani early this after known Maulvi Omer Farooq was accompanied by Senior Separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah and Syed Ali Shah Geelani was given the company by Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Masrat Alam ; first meeting session started jointly with all .However the second session of the two factions of Hurriyat was carried by the mode of one-to- one between Omer Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani ; the third and final session was once again carried jointly by Shabir Ahmad Shah , Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Masrat Alam beside the two heads of the both factions . The 8-hour ended after long discussions and deliberations .Finally the lull broke out at 6.20 P.M when both the heads of the two factions of Hurriyat came out for the joint press conference . It was decided that firstly, the sanctity of 1993 APHC constitution will be upheld in letter and spirit. Secondly, the two factions will work in tandem for achieving right to self-determination for the people of Jammu Kashmir. Thirdly, it will work for creating a mechanism that will find ways and means for achieving right to self determination as enshrined in the UN resolution through tripartite talks between Pakistan, India and Kashmiris.While retaining their separate identities “for the time being,” the leaders of the two factions signed a joint document spelling out their firm resolve to evolve a joint mechanism to further strengthen the struggle for achieving the right of self-determination and to work out the modalities for total unification both factions of the separatist amalgam fell apart on September 15, 2003. In the Press briefing Moulvi Mohammad Omer Farooq said that today”s meting was aimed to develop a joint mechanism between the two faction of the Hurriyat and the burning issues like forest land transfer to Shri Amar Nath Shrine Board and anti election campaign were discussed in a conducive manner. Both the Faction of Hurriyat have reached to the consensus that a state wide agitation shall be launched State along with anti election campaign which will be commenced with a structured policy , some point regarding the Hurriyat Unification were also discussed with far and wide parameters, Omer Said, “ both Hurriyats would jointly fight against the “illegal” land transfer and his faction would support all the programmes of the committee formed by Geelani faction under the leadership of former president of the Bar Association, Mian Abdul Qayoom. “As Geelani Sahib has already formed a committee, we will join it and carry forward the mission together,”. 6-member committee will be constituted to look into the unification of the two factions of Hurriyat which will comprise of three members from each ,however inputs from inside sources reveal that the committee shall comprise of Nayeem Ahmad Khan , Dr. Hubbi and Shabir Ahmad Shah from Omer Faction of Hurriyat while as Masrat Alam ,Abdul Aziz Dar@ General Moosa and Ayaz Akber will represent the committee from the faction of Syed Ali Shah Geelani”s Hurriyat but its confirmation could not be ascertained . In the pres briefing Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that Molvi Mohammad Omer Farooq paid a visit to his residence along with Shabir Ahmad Shah with the proposal to choke out a policy regarding forest land transfer by the State Government to the Shri Amar Nath Shrine Board . In the meeting besides this the issue regarding anti election campaign was also discussed both accepted to carry it in the forth coming assembly elections ,Geelani Said , “In the future course of time Hurriyat will take indigenous decision and will not receive diktats from others”. He alleged that the educational institutions have been deliberately targeted by those people who have the only interest to divert the attention of upcoming youth from freedom to romantic utopia by propounding the policy of catching them young. Syed Ali Geelani appealed to the parents of the youth to remain cautious about such elements who are trying to tarnish the image of Kashmiris and are trying to kill our deep rooted ethos. However, Moulvi Mohammad Umer Farooq was not spotted in today’s procession. In the meantime chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz has hailed the move taken by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Moulvi Umer Farooq on the unification budge of two hurriyats and called it as a positive sign for the ongoing freedom movement in Kashmir which will yield fruitful results. Sheikh Aziz Welcomes SRINAGAR 5th March 2008. Spokesman for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Farhatullah Babar has said that the remarks of PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari about Kashmir in an interview to an Indian channel have been quoted out of context in a section of the media. In a statement on Tuesday, Babar said the PPP was committed to resolving the Kashmir dispute and normalising relations with India on the basis of respect and honour. He said in the said interview Mr Zardari, articulating the party”s position, had stated that the PPP believed in conflict management and simultaneously creating a trading bloc of the two countries to improve living conditions of people of South Asia and at the same time improve confidence as a key to resolving outstanding issues. Babar held that the PPP believed that peace required patience and that confidence building measures were required to create a climate for durable peaceful relations. The PPP is in favour of normalization of relations with India as well as enhancement of SAARC as a trading bloc. In this context the party proposed soft borders as far back as 1999. Meanwhile Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Abdul Aziz has welcomed the statement issued by spokesman of Pakistan peoples party Farhatullah Barber in which party has expressed that Kashmir dispute needs to be resolved peacefully and politically. However, Sheikh Abdul Aziz urged that a result oriented tripartite dialogue should be initiated between the Indian Government and the Government which will come forth in Pakistan. But stressed that the responsible statements should come in future from the leadership of Pakistan, so that Kashmiri peoples should not get demoralized as there is a hope against hope with Pakistan who have supported our sacred movement politically, morally and diplomatically, Sheikh said.
11. Peoples League Leaders arrested in Srinagar . 25th April 2008:
A procession led by JKPl chairman and Executive Member APHC Sheikh Abdul Aziz amidst pro-freedom slogans like “Kateloon ko nanga karoo”, “Behayayee ko Band Karoo”, “Expose the uniformed killers”, “Stop Planned Moral Degradation”, “, while marching towards historical Jamia Masjid of Srinagar, in order to express solidarity with the parents whose children have been disappeared by the security forces. It is worth to mention that APHC has already announced that it will register a peaceful protest demonstration against the unmarked and un-named graves spread far and wide in the state of Jammu Kashmir, who have been killed by Indian security forces. In this context a large chunk of Peoples League activists started marching towards the historical Jamia Masjid. However they were forcibly stopped by state police and were arrested and lodged in Rajbagh Police Station. It is pertinent to mention that Sheikh Abdul Aziz a senior most secessionist leader who has been released recently from Tihar jail after a long spell and has been again detained as a precautionary measure to prevent him from reaching to the historical Jamia Masjid, where from the protest march led by APHC chairman Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq shall culminate and will submit memorandum to United Nations Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), so as to make civilized world cognizant about the gross human right violations rendered at the hands of security forces deployed in the state to curb the legitimate freedom struggle carried out by Kashmiris against illegal occupation of Kashmir by India. The other persons which were arrested with Sheikh Abdul Aziz are Mir Mohammad Iqbal president Mahaz-i-Azadi, Sheikh Zahoor Ahmad, Perviar Ahmad Dar, Gh. Nabi Darzi, Mohd Maqbool Sofi, Shakel-ul Rehman, Er-Sajad, Gh. Mohd Mir and other activists. Mahza-I-Azadi has termed it as an undemocratic step and to suppress the voice of Kashmiris ,which is meant to safeguard the wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu Kashmir, Mahaz-I-Azadi press release said. It is worth to mention that Javaid Ahmed Mir another Senior Hurriyat Leader has been detained in Kotibagh Police station Srinager. Senior Hurriyat Leader and Peoples League”s cistern feeler Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has condemned this act and termed it as a cowardice action which will yield no results but will add fuel to the fire. It is enigmatic that a peaceful procession which was carried by peoples league aimed to urge international communities like Amnesty International, Asia Watch, ICRC to pressurize India for probing into the un-named graves where in the kashmiri youth have been killed in different fake encounters and who were dubbed as foreign mercenaries which is far from the realities, being the pacifists and democrats it is unfortunate that India is still propounding the policy of barbarous oppression theory, Waza said.

The new world order in contrast with South Asia where Kashmir is at the nuclear flash point between two neighboring nuclear countries of the sub-continent: There is a worldwide conspiracy being orchestrated by an extremely powerful and influential groups which include many of the world's wealthiest people, top short sighted political leaders, and some corporate elite, as well as members of the Black Nobility who hammer the immediate, durable and honorable solution of Kashmir imbroglio, whose goal is to create a One Fascist World,  Reshi said.  Spokesman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League,  Imtiyaz Ahmad  Reshi has urged world supremacies to discard double standards on freedom resolutions in Kashmir, after having maneuvered the separation of South Sudan from its Northern region and East Timor from Indonesia through a week-long referendum, being monitored by Western organizations.

 Imtiyaz Reshi  said that the partition of a sovereign State like Sudan into Muslim and Christian states would not have been possible without long world supremacies. Waza said that when there was the question of plebiscite for Kashmir, the Kashmiris were made victims of sheer religious and ethnic fanaticism to escape from the implementation of 18 UN resolutions. He said that the same powers stage-managed secession of South Sudan from North Sudan and East Timor from Indonesia by Plebiscite.

“If only human rights violations of a regime were enough to grant the right to freedom to the people of a particular region or religion, then why not Kashmir, where people were being slaughtered and women gang-raped for the last 21 years by the army and police of India. This is religious divide and amounts to destabilizing and disintegrating the Muslim world to plunge them into impoverishment and economic dependence and despondency,” he added.

 Reshi said that having separated East Timor from Indonesia, and now maneuvering independence of South Sudan from the North Sudan under the pretext of the religious differences, Kashmir was even more genuine case for freedom because of the international resolutions. He said in order to avert further threats to regional and international peace America and the West should equally support plebiscite of Kashmir as they did in Sudan and do away with their hypocrisy in the Muslim World. “By supporting India on the issue of Kashmir and encouraging pro-freedom amongst Muslim nations, the West is nakedly jeopardizing world peace and civilizations,” he warned.

Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, today held an extraordinary meeting at district office Islamabad has appealed the people to observe India’s Republic Day as black day.

While addressing in a meeting, senior leaders and  Chairman of JKPL, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza said that the Kashmir’s   had been fighting for the right to self-determination and Indian Republic Day had no relevance in Jammu and Kashmir. Waza said, we don’t want to hurt the  sentiments  of India people but there is no other offition to show our anger  Waza said India is claiming big democracy but in Kashmir he muzzles the freedom of others is it genuine for India to celebrate republic day in such enviroment“Our struggle is not against any nation, tribe, and religion or against the sovereignty of any country. But our struggle is the struggle for our rights”, adding “Kashmir movement does not belong to any particular individual. This movement belongs to the people of Jammu Kashmir and represents their wishes and aspirations.”  He also castigated the puppet administration for subjecting people to harassment and intimidation in the name of so-called security measures. He said that the whole Jammu and Kashmir had been turned into military garrison and people are being denied free movement

Waza asked the Kashmiri people to observe India’s Republic Day on January 26 as black day to convey to the world community that New Delhi continued to deny them their inalienable right to self-determination.

 In a statement  waza, said more than 52 persons were martyred and 250 others injured in the firing by forces in January 21, 1990, at Gaw Kadal here. “The Gaw Kadal massacre was a well thought out plan to pave way for Kashmiri Pandits’ exodus from Kashmir,” said  waza, urging the international human rights organizations to set up an international independent tribunal to probe the Gawkadal Massacre so that the conspirators be unmasked and punished under the international  humanitarian law. Jammu Kashmir Peoples League said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be taken to its logical conclusion. While speaking in the colloquium senior Hurriyat Leader and  Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza said that Kashmiri martyrs centre-staged Kashmir dispute at the international level. It was on October 13, 1974, that, as the result of the amalgamation of the aforesaid organizations like  Islamic students organization, the popular young men’s league and youth league, this conglomarate carrying the uncontroversial nomenclature came into being. Thus breaking to pieces the idols of party bias and by sacrificing their individual identities the devotees of freedom strongly resolved to continue their struggle for freedom. In this way four pro-freedom organizations, by uniting into one organization,  Jammu and Kashmir peoples league,

First martyr from the league.

The jnk peoples league gave its first martyr to the freedo movement in the person of  Ghulam Mohammad Bulla who was killed under torture by the police after he was arrested fro the sopore chowk while leading a procession in protest against the infamous  Indra –Abdullah Accord which had been signed to undermine the disputed status of the state in February, 1975. These were the days when the peoples league was in its nascent form and had not set up its organizational structure in a regular manner.Even so the leage raised its voice of protest against the Accord and gave a call for general  strike. The organization moved ahead with strong determination  until 1977 when it gave another call for general strike and remined the international community its commitment of setting the kashmir question  through a fair and free plebiscite. Thus it was the league from its very inception conducted  its struggle through peaceful political means.

CONSTITUTIONAL AND DEMOCRATIC PROCESS;

The League held a historical meeting in the Punjab hotel on the first July, 1978. In this meeting the constitution of the organization was shaped , the regular organizational structure was formed  and a pamphlet regarding the ais and objectives of the organization was issued. In this meeting it was resolved to every year observe the  27^th October as the ‘BLACK DAY’ AS IT WAS ON THE SAME DAY THAT THE OCCUPATION ARMY OF INDIA LANDED IN KASMHIR.Besides this it was also resolved to embark on programme  of political awareness all over the state through peaceful demonstrations. There was another meeting of the workers of the league held in taj hotel, Srinagar, in 1980,to restructure the party and adopt guidelines for future . It was in the meeting that a legal cell was established with the objective of defending the detained workers of the league in general and M. Maqbool Butt in particular. A big rally organized by the league in Islamabad was dispersed by the Government  under tremendous pressure from the Indian government . The league was banned and its workers were imprisoned. In 1980, the leaders of the league met with the them Iranian Foreign minister Ayatollah Gulzadah Gafoori, and apprised him of Kashmir issue.

In August 1980, the league put in tremendous efforts to make successful the public meeting which was to be attended by the Imam Kabba  as the chief guest. But the state government again under pressure  from the Indian government, did not allow it to be held. However, the leaders of the league met the reverend Imam.In 1981 the workers of league were again treated violently by the government.

ACTIVITIES AGAINST SOCIAL EVILS;

The year 1982, saw increase in the activities of the league.The erosion of oral values caused by the system of modern education and culture was prominent in the selfishness, lust for material prosperity and luxurious habits which people were adopting. In view of these perceptions the league organized a protest rally in Islamabad  against drinking chars, smoking, gambling and speculation.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF INVITING INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION;

On oct,13 1983, it was league that planned to disrupt the cricket match being played between West Indies and India at Srinagar .The Kashmir issue attached the international attention due to this action. The then west Indies  Captain Clive Lyod, said, the both India and Pakistan  ought to find a solution to the Kashmir problem by sitting together with the people of Kashmir.

When in February, 1984, Mohammad Maqbool Butt was martyred  by hanging him to death in ;Tiahrt jail’ the jailed workers of the league observed non-obligatory fast within the prisons while those of the workers outside, raised their voice of protest. On 9, September, 1985, the league protest against the cricket match between India and Australia  at Srinagar. 1985 was full of activities of the workers of the party, the caravan of freedom fighters arched on. It was heartening to see the new generation participating in the leagues programmers. In 1986, seminar being organized by the league on the Kashmir, question was not allowed to start. The organizers of the seminar were arrested.

As the league always believed that elections were no solution to the Kashmir problem it stood on the decision of boycott even when the Muslim United Front jumped into the fray in 1987.The league believed and continues to believe that not elections but a free and impartial plebiscite offers a permanent solution to the Kashmir problem. Thus league refused to get into trap of elections.

During 1988 the league further intensified its organizational activities in various districts and tried to raise the Kashmir issue on international level.

 It was particularly on the important days like 14^th and 15^th August, 26^th January and 13^th, July, that the workers of the league were active in inviting the international attention towards the Kashmir problem even as many of them would be arrested on the eve of these days.  

In 1989, when the methods of struggle changed and the day of the freedom demanded blood from the  freedom lovers  before it could dawn, the workers of the league as always did not lay behind in offering their warm blood.The past 21 years of freedom struggle are witness to this fact. The  blood of the league workers has flowed in profusion and it continues to flow.Many prominent office bearers like the prince of Revolution., Shaheedi Inqulab S. Hameed Wani, Shaheedi Azimat Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Khalil-ur-Rehman, Prof, Waheed, Advocate Rasheed, Nazir Ahmad Wani, Shaheed Muzamil, Nasir  Bakhtiyar, Prof Mohamad Shafi Qazi, Bashir Ahmad Chakoora, Abdul Khaliq GANAI, Gul Mohammad  malik, and two brothers of soura Awanta bhawan , namely Nazir Ahmad DAR, and Hillal Ahmad Dar, and two brothers  namely  Mohammad Shafi Rah and Mushtaq Ahmad Rah of Maharagjung   srinagar and sameer Ahmad jandha .Many  more others.  An extra ordinary meeting of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League was convened at   District srinagar which was chaired by Executive Member of APHC and party’s   Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza. In the meeting a threadbare discussion was held on the current situation.

It is pertinent to mention that Jammu Kashmir Peoples league has been launched in 3rd October 1974 to give vent to the resistance movement by adopting the mode of political activism in terms of non-violence to press the demand of right to self determination in accordance with the UN resolutions which are the genesis of bonafide demand of common stock of people living in all the fours of Jammu Kashmir spread over an area of 2,22,236 Sq. kms along with some expatriates. Peoples League from its day of inception is struggling to protect the cultural ethos of Kashmiris for which they identified world over for the peculiarity and party has always raised voice against moral degradation moreover prepare youth for cultural crossfire to remain agile, vigilant and meticulous.Waza reiterated that Kashmir is a powder keg, lingering international dispute, a nuclear flash point in south Asia, basically a simple political issue involving the future of people of Kashmir who have to decide its course through a promised plebiscite but the chauvinism of the Indian rulers rendered this dispute complicated and confounded.
Waza maintained that Kashmir dispute has consumed more than 5 lakh lives only from 1947. Kashmir which is having 5000 year old history was an independent country till it lost it’s sovereignty at the hands of Mughals on 1585 A.D. There after Mughals came Afghans then Sikhs then Dogras and now worlds so called largest democracy has occupied it through its military might. Waza reteirated that recent reports of WIKILEAKS, an American Diplomat said that resolving the 63-year-old Kashmir conflict "would dramatically improve the situation in whole South Asia Block,". Waza said that our liberation movement is indigenous with the objective to achieve right to self-determination. "The ongoing agitation will continue till India accepts Kashmir as a disputed territory withdraws its troops and releases all political prisoners and youth from jails," he added.
