MESSAGE FROM ACTING CHAIRMAN, JKPL

and needs to be accelerated if we want to see peace in real sense. Kashmir is a nuclear flash point. Former president of Pakistan General Parvez Musharraf had shown tremendous flexibility on Kashmir as was clear from his four point formula. But India did not pay any heed to the proposal and a golden opportunity to solve the Kashmir dispute was lost. India should leave its rigid stand and initiate a meaningful dialogue with Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir dispute.
Sheikh Sahib was a towering leader and a great personality who sacrificed his life for the cause of his nation. It was not only an irreparable loss to JKPL but to whole of Kashmir. Sheikh Sahib’s assassination was planned as is evident from the manner in which he was targeted by the state forces.
I would not like to delve into whatever has happened in the past. As of now our party believes in non-violence and we have a clear cut roadmap that all issues can be solved through peaceful dialogue. We don’t believe in guns. Instead we subscribe to the supremacy of dialogue as all issues can be resolved through an honest and willful discourse. We are a political force and political activities are our modus operandi. Violence has no role in our roadmap.
Unity is a great concept but I believe it can be achieved only when the ideas and outlook of the two parties are in sync. We are a part of Hurriyat (M) and we feel it is doing a great job towards the resolution of Kashmir dispute.
If the Kashmir issue can be solved by other methods like tripartite talks we will try to advance such methods. In the contemporary international political arena one cannot afford to be rigid.
