 Srinagar, Nov 27: APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today convened an important meeting of executive council members at hurriyat headquarters Rajbagh.    

The meeting was attended by executive members of hurriyat including Prof. Abdul Gani Mukhtar Ahmad Waza.Bhat, Bilal Gani lone, Musadiq Adil, Moulana Abbas Ansari, and

Taking a stock of the present political situation in valley, the participants said that the disputed status of Kashmir issue cannot be changed by state sponsored elections, adding, serious efforts needed to be undertaken to work towards creating a conducive atmosphere for initiating a meaningful dialogue to solve the Kashmir issue and thereby securing the future of millions of people living in the region.

Keeping in view of the constructive thinking of international community regarding the dispute, the participants said the time has come to get rid of stubbornness and undertake the policy based on reality and solve the Kashmir issue according to the wishes and aspirations of people, either by implementing pending UN resolution or by through meaningful result oriented tripartite dialogue between the stake holders of the dispute.

During the meeting, the participants finalized the arrangements of observe human rights week starting from Dec 5 to Dec 10 in connection with International human rights day.        

Detailing out the venues of the HR week, they said 1st seminar would be held in Kupwara on Dec 05, second on Dec 06 in Islamabad, 08 December at hurriyat headquarters Rajbagh, 09 december at hurriyat would conduct photo exhibition and films featuring HR violations in Kashmir, and lastly on Dec 10, hurriyat leadership would stage a peaceful dharna in Srinagar during which the leaders would raise the issue of AFSPA, enforced disappearences, unmarked graves tortures etc to apprise the world about the right violations in Kashmir.   

The hurriyat has appealed people to participate in the seminar to raise voice against HR violation and apprise the world of the continuous rights abuses committed by Indian forces in Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the participants expressed regret and shock over the loss of ten lives at Tathri Kishtwar during a traffic accident. Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, the participants prayed for the deceased souls.
