Srinagar, Jan 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League Chief Patron Sheikh Yaqoob in a statement to media has paid rich tributes to the 52 people who were martyred during the Gawkadal massacre on 21 January 1990.
Sheikh Yaqoob said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be taken to its logical conclusion. He said that the Kashmiri martyrs centre-staged Kashmir dispute at the international level. He reiterated the pledge to continue the liberation struggle, despite all odds. Sheikh has urged people to pray for the elevation-status of Kashmiri martyrs.
He maintained that unfortunately, the people of Jammu and Kashmir were still kept deprived of right to self-determination and the promises made with them at international level were not fulfilled.
Meanwhile a high level delegation led by JKPL spokesman Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi and Javaid Wani visited the residence of League’s former chairman late Abdul Razaaq Sopori to condole the death of his wife who passed away for heavenly abode a day before. Special prayers were held on the occasion on account to the departed soul.Later on meeting of jkpl was held at Srinagar to pay tribute to wife of former chairman jkpl late Ab Razaq Sopori meeting was chaired by Farooq dar and attended by senior jkpl leaders and they said she was a pious and God fearing woman and this family a contributed countless sacrifices regarding freedom movement of Kashmir.
