Srinagar, August 28: APHC Thursday stressed upon the world community and international human rights organization to exert pressure on India to investigate thousands of enforced disappearances cases in Kashmir so as to bring the truth in public domain.





 In connection with the international day for enforced disappearances, senior Hurriyat leaders Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Syed Salim Geelani, Hakim Abdul Rashid, Imtiyaz Reshi ,Yasmeen Raja, Sofi Mushtaq, Syed Bashir Andrabi along with the workers and activists staged a peaceful protest in solidarity with the families of the victims of enforced disappearances at Press colony Srinagar.

 Demanding the return of the victims of enforced disappearances, the leaders stated that more than 9 thousand people were picked up by the state whose fate was still not known. They further stated that more than 8000 unmarked graves have been found dotting the Kashmiri landscape, adding, it is was the moral duty of world community and international rights organization to demand the investigation into such cases to know the fate of the victims of enforced disappearances.

 Senior Hurriyat leader Zaffar Akbar Bhat and other leaders told media that Kashmiris want to know the fate of victims of enforced disappearances and also want thorough probe into the unmarked graves to know who is buried underground. The leaders stated that the main aim of the protest was to divert the attention of the world community towards those families who were picked by the government forces and whose families are still waiting for their return despite years have passed. They said parents of many victims have passed away waiting for the return of their sons.

 Asserting that human rights violation continues in Kashmir, Zaffar Akbar Bhat and other leaders stated that militarization of Kashmir continues and force is employed to suppress the prevalent political demand, Kashmiris continue to be languishing in jails as political prisoners, and powers under black laws continue to rest with the forces which empower them to kill on will. They stated that it was highly a cause of concern that UN continues to watch all this happening in silence...
